What is the billing address?

Your billing address is the address linked to the card you're paying with for the transfer. It's the address your bank has on record for your card. It's not always the same as where you live now. It's usually the address you gave when you applied for the card.

We ask for it to verify your card and keep your payment secure. Your bank checks it against its own records, so if it doesn't match, your payment might be declined. A mismatched billing address is one of the most common reasons a card payment fails.

Where to find your card's billing address

  • Banking app or online banking: open your card, then look for Card details, Personal details or Profile, where your registered address is shown.
  • Bank statement: check the address shown on a recent statement.

How to add your card's billing address in the TransferGo app

You can add or update your card's billing address from two places in the app:

1. While sending money

If the card you've chosen is missing a billing address, you'll see a warning message on the "Pay from" screen: "Card billing address is missing."

Tap "Add billing address" to go to your card details and enter the billing address.

2. From your payment methods

  • Go to "Home" and tap your initials in the top-left corner.
  • Go to Payment methods
  • Any card that's missing a billing address shows "Missing billing address" under its name, in red.
  • Tap that card to open its details and enter the billing address.

Good to know

  • Enter your card’s billing address exactly as your bank has it, including the postcode.
  • If you've moved since getting the card but haven't updated your bank yet, use the old address, not your current one.
